overall I had a great time ..but...

Me and mama had a massive argument about religion and politics..

apparently i was screeching at some point ..

The only reason it blew over fairly quickly is because my sister L had a meltdown..

let me tell you about my sister L .

She's perfect..

She's married to a man who adores her, she has 2 children 20 and 17 who are really great people
she's financially very well off.
She's 46 but has a fabo body ( and eats basically what she wants and NEVER works out)
and she's smart and funny.

but

She's fearful of a lot of things , flying , appliances catching on fire , other peoples driving ...just mostly everything..

and by fearful i mean FEARFUL..

and my cousin Lynns wife said something to her about her being afraid of flying .
( lynn and his wife go jetting off to Belize at a moments notice , they're those types )
and my sister got her feelings hurt..
she had a meltdown about how she thinks they were telling her her life had no meaning ..

I got all natural-ish ..I decided to try the henna stuff ..( Its been around for a few gazillion years...so its time for me to try )

Damn..

its like making mud and then slathering it on and letting it harden on your head..

I let it sit in my hair for a couple of hours...luckily the house didn't burn down , and I didn't have a great big ol stroke and have to be rushed to the hospital..
cause I think the dried beehive on my head would have been more embarrassing than a hole in my panties ..

The pictures are shit..

but after rinsing and rinsing all the stuff in my hair ..I was really surprised at how RED my hair is ..
See the shiney red/gold bits in the front ?
Thats where it glommed onto the gray hairs and turned the purest henna color ..

totally unnatural..
but i really like it ..

I use International Phone Cards to call friends.
International Calling Cards are the way to go !..It's simple and easy and safe..
and pretty much guilt free
The world is a smaller place, you have the internet and you 'meet'people, people you have a connection with ..so you wanna call, you want to communicate!
Why limit yourself to just talking to locals ?
How many times have you gotten to know someone who lives in another country and wish you could call them without it costing you a mortgage payment ?
I use International Calling Cards every week or so to call the dullard..( remember him ?)I adore the Dullard ..we've been close friends for years now..I can't imagine not talking to him.

I need my fix o' the dullard, so i call him cheaply using a prepaid phone card fairly often..and im not about to limit the amount of time I want to talk with him..( and honestly it takes a few minutes for us to start understanding each other...accents arghh!!!)
I dont even really miss the small amount of money it costs to call him and most importantly
and it makes me happy!

for some god awful reason ive been hotflashing like crazy..even though Ive thrown caution to the wind and have continued to take hormone replacements ( premarin how i love thee)
But something is not working ..

I CANNOT sweat anymore than i am ..
I feel old and moist. and I'm always redfaced..like ive been running..but oh we all know that aint happening
i dont feel crazed or crabby ( i grew up on horror stories of menopausal women going berserk in stores if the price of canned peas goes up .1 cent
)

My sister Bobbie lives in South Carolina..anyone not from North Carolina ..this is like living in a singlewide trailer instead of a doublewide...
and since she's all redneck hillbilly she's also ultra right wing and ultra religious ( as in jesus hates niggers, homos and especially democrats)
she was all excited about doing the tea bag thing on tax day to protest whatever ( im so out of the loop )
She told Mother that homeland security was targeting whites and Christians now that Obama was in office .
Mother was telling me about this and Mother said Bobbie Lee was still going to go to X (where ever she was going ) to dump her teabags.

Have you ever been bitten by a fire ant ? ( i'm pretty sure its bitten and not stung..they have bitey parts :) )
I have, and it hurts like you CANNOT believe !..
And not only does it hurt immediately..the pain lasts for weeks..the injury lasts for WEEKS..and sometimes you're left with a scar.
They're almost impossible to get rid of too..when I was a kid we'd pour gasoline down the hole and set it on fire ( uh..fun, but dangerous) it would work or a bit, but the buggers would just pop up in some other area a day or so later..
the best fire ant treatment ?
Stay away from them
they're tiny but tougher than you are

I was standing in a store and in front of me was a man in my favorite type shirt.. the Guayabera..its very very popular in cuba and Puerto rico..
and its usually always a tiny thin old man who wears them.
I put a pic of a colored shirt, but the most common is white or cream colored.
for some reason wearing white is considered classy to Caribbean people...At some social gatherings you'll see everyone wearing all white..if you do , just know they're pretty frou frou :)
I like color..I like bright and loud..
that just tells you I'm not at all classy

But I love the shirt, I think more men should wear them , they're very flattering and you know they have to be comfortable .

I have super sensitive skin..I cant use just any old lotion, my skin breaks out and gets rashy. or it flakes up and gets ugly :(

I've used massive amounts of lotions and sunscreens over the years, and I'm always looking for new and better products. Sun is the killer people !..

I think I have aged fairly well because I have always used sunscreens.

I've been looking at La Roche Posay Anthelios ..( big name huh?) but it can be used on skin ages from 6 months and up...good! , my skin is sensitive like a baby's..so I need something that's proven to be gentle.

Sometimes I need waterproof, due to swimming or water sports..or just plain ol sweating!.

so i was looking over ElemisLiquid Layer Sun Block SPF 30..I need to be able to count on it to stay on ,,even while floating in a pool ...

But my favorite so far is DDF Moisturizing Photo-Age Protection SPF 30, I'm an old girl., with dry skin.so i need a lotion that helps strengthen skin while protecting it ..this is especially made for dry skin..and it's recommended by the skin cancer foundation!.

that's a huge relief, skin cancer has been in my family, but I think due to my constant use of sunscreen I've been very lucky and have managed to stay healthy..

Parties come in all forms, something as casual as friends getting together for drinks and food and laughs..all the way to formal dinners..everyone has their own preferences.
I can do it all :)
I like to have fun.
we've all been to a hawaiian themed party..
thats been done to pieces..
not saying its not fun, just saying there are a load of party ideas out there ..
get creative!

One of the best parties i've ever been to was a very formal dinner for a charity.
After the dinner ( and many many drinks )
they had a scavenger hunt !
I had the most fun running up and down stairs with a lot of women in heels and formal dresses..
we laughed our butts off !

Easter is coming ...my sister is having a party for her kids ..
my family loves decorating eggs.
My mother uses eggs that are blown out and she makes them little works of art .

and divorced a few times.

all my divorces were simple ones..no custody battles or property haggling.

and yet, I had to see an attorney and go through the whole process like i was Donald Trump..
going to court for nothing is boring as hell..and you feel so trashy :(

So I think people should have an easier way to dissolve a crap marriage , without having lawyers try to dig for dirt..without having to pay a fortune for some guy to fill out a few papers and go with you to a courthouse and you spend hours waiting just so you can spend 3 minutes getting legally divorced.
there's always going to be a legal need for people who want to fight over every little thing..
but don't penalize us poor souls who just want out of something that's not acrimonious..its just not working

A friend was talking about this being an anniversary of her beloved brothers death..
I told her to make a scholarship in his name at the high school he went to..
it can be small , just 25 or 50 dollars..
and a light bulb went off in my head.

So i contacted my daddys old high school and Im setting up The Bobby Shoe Scholarship
the criterion to win it is you have to play sports , and be raised by a stepfather.
easy peasy..( its only 50 dollars )

She is a nice golden color year round ..
My niece also tans
and she looks fabulous all year round ..
But some people use tanning beds during the winter , when there's little natural sunlight ..
I have friends who swear that the lamps in the tanning beds help winter depression..
my grandfather suffered from winter depression..and i remember him using a sun lamp to feel better..
He would have loved to have a whole body sun lamp in his very own house !

My mommy and niece were here for 3 days..
I LOVE them, and we laughed a lot..

But..

My whole family is super religious ( not in the quiet , lighting candles and praying way..in the intolerant of anything just like them , loud way)
and I had hope for my niece ..she's smart and just went away to college last fall.

no such luck..
she's falling right in with the rest of them..

she's totally small minded. just like them all.

how can intelligent people be so narrow minded ?

I hate making decisions..
I had momo put down yesterday..put down..
sounds so simple huh?

everyone kept telling me that I'd know when it was time.
But I never felt like it was time..N E V E R

even when he was pooping bloody poo, even when he had seizures and his back legs wouldnt support him for a few hours afterwards, even though he was blind and senile and walked constantly, running headfirst into walls and furniture...giving that little yipe whenever he bumped into stuff..and he was scared of everything that touched him cause he couldnt tell what it was.

So I stopped being a selfish cow and took him to the vet..I held him and talked to him and the dr stuck the needle in and mo gave a little moan of complaint then he was gone..
it was so quick..
quicker than i wanted..I wanted to snatch his life back and just wait a bit more..a few more days

I took a little allergy medicine induced nap..and had the most VIVID multi layered dream..

Letters from cuba

I'm keeper of the memories, keeper of the family history..

I read these letters and see the changes of paper, sometimes the paper is noticeably old and yellowed, sometimes they write in ink, sometimes black ink, sometimes red..sometimes even pencil..
I know they use whatever they have.
and they write over days ..and several people will write pages in the same letter.

I love this family in Cuba that I've never met ..
and they love me ..

One Day Cuba must be free..or at least We Americans must be free to go see our aging families

Remember the first time you ever saw a skateboard ?

I was 8 in Pawnee Oklahoma and I saw some older boys riding a homemade skateboard on a sidewalk near the local hospital ..( how fitting no ?)

I really really liked the idea of skateboarding ..

LOVED IT..
and luckily i was one of the 'guys' so they didnt mind showing me how to ride..
I never was able to do any tricks though ..bummer :(.

George ,a neighbor boy helped me build my own..
it was very primitive , but it worked !.

you never saw me without that stupid board attached to my right foot.
You see those signs at shopping malls saying " no skateboards allowed ?"
I helped bring those about ..i did My part :)

Now of course Skateboards are less clunky and a whole lot sexier..
and easier !
you can get something called a complete..which is just all the parts that you assemble

Even though you assemble it, you still get the coolness of a brand like ALIEN WORKSHOP

BLACK LABEL, BRANDED and many many many ( MANY) more
(jesus , who knew that they had BRANDS now ?)

of course you can always buy one preassembled, but really ..kids need more stuff to do , putting together your own skateboard is fun, and you ride a bit prouder yanno?

Once a few years back I had a beautiful boyfriend in New Jersey..we'll call him jewboy
He was just a regular computer guy, making okay money and having an okay life ..
But his brother was an ear nose and throat Doctor living in Westchester county NY..Dr/brothers wife was a Dr of some sort too.
( can we say fabulously rich ?) I believe we can..
anyways..
I happened to be visiting jewboy the weekend Mr and Mrs doctor were vacationing in Europe and jewboy was installing the music system in dr/s HUGE home

( I know ..tons of info here )

We spent one night in Dr/s home in a beautiful huge old antique bed.

Then I got a call a few nights after i got home ..

The dr/s had came home from vacation and discovered they had BEDBUGS!

the antique bed frame was eat up with nasty horrid BLOOD SUCKING..bugs

ick..
bedbugs are extremely hard to get rid of..and are getting more and more prevalent ,
It took the dr/s a huge amount of time washing everything in hot water and having a professional bedbug killer go through the entire house before they were finally rid of them.
Luckily I didnt bring them home with me .

I love sun rooms..( what you English types call Conservatories )
I'm an avid reader, so one of my favorite things to do is sprawl out on a comfy sofa ( cloth covering please!..I'm not fond of leather or plether )
and since I'm old as dirt i need a lot of sun so i can see what I'm reading
Here in Puerto Rico we love cane ,rattan , or wicker furniture, it holds up surprisingly well in this steamy tropical weather.
So it must last forever in more reasonable climates.
And its so neat and tidy looking. add some greenery in the room and you have a lovely and CLASSY looking room for very little expense.

I also like to Internet window shop , there's a nice site.

Conservatory Furniture

I prefer the rattan , to me it seems sturdier .
and investing in furniture made from a natural material makes good sense.

for instance, rattan only grows among existing trees and grows very quickly.
so you have a constantly renewable source of material,, without having to chop down trees to make it.
that's a win win !

In this new century I think we should all make the effort to invest in items that are good for the planet as well as being nice to look at and a good bargain..
Don't you think so too?

My favorite memory is all of us ( mother and my 4 sisters) driving way out in the country...we didnt really know where we were and mama was jettin along in the biggest Buick station wagon in the whole world.

the road was really twisty and turny and hilly.

Mother had to be going at least 80 when we came to a hill..

and we were AIRBORNE!!..FLYING in the fucking air like a fucking airplane !
I swear me and the sisters were weightless there for a bit.

We were screaming like a carload of monkeys and holding on to the seat in front..
( this was before seatbelts)

it took forever before we hit with a huge thud, and then it was like we had never flown at all.
we were all quiet..i think we were in shock..

and mama said..

do NOT tell your father about that.

My mommy called ,
she took a tumble down some stairs...not because she's frail and weak..

She came up with a bright plan to carry a heavy glider type rocking chair downstairs..
she decided to scoot it down ..

yeah..

It went jetting down the stairs taking my mother with it ..

When she told me about it ..
I couldnt stop laughing ..
that crazy old lady..

My dad always said that living with my mom was like being in an episode of I love Lucy..

Like when i was 8..she decided to 'clean' around the barn by burning the weeds..
the whole barn lit up like a halloween pumpkin..

mother managed to put it out ..( she had me and my sisters stomping on it while she hosed it down)
and she said the words i heard a million times..

If Daddy knew half the insane shit my mother did he would have had a heart attack long before he did.

Anyways, mommy's fine..just a pulled tendon or something minor like that..

I was cleaning up my photos..thought I'd post these little gems...

I was cleaning and putting toilet paper in the bathrooms ( and i walk in on this scene..he's so senile and he was sound asleep..snoring even)

And Georgie the retard loves his baby bowl..LOVES it..

I use stainless steel bowls usually ..but he loves me to put anything in this bowl..
he'll carry it around with him and make sweet tongue love to it all day.
